In the spring of 2013 a vision began emerging of a park that could both welcome visitors to our neighborhood and serve as a community meeting place for our neighbors. Through a collaboration between Butchertown Neighborhood Association, Metro Parks, and Urban Design Studio that vision was solidified.
A series of meetings were held to identify needs, wishes, and concerns. These design workshops ultimately identified a wish for a place that is both contemporary and contextual; a park that celebrates the community’s rich history and brings green space to an urban corridor.
The location and design of the park offers a pedestrian connection between Story Avenue and Washington Street. It is the sincere hope of those involved that this park becomes a meeting place both literally and figuratively.
